Persian lamb (swakara) fur bodies

Body Part

SWAKARA is an acronym for the South West African Karakul where some of the finest lamb pelts can be found. It is not a specific lamb fur type but rather a brand name, renowned for consistency in quality. “Karakul” means black sheep. The term Persian Lamb fur comes from the West Asian countries that the specific lamb breeds were first used for clothes.

Persian lamb fur used to be extremely heavy in the past. Tannery evolution has solved the issue and now they do not weigh more than an average mink fur. Color wise the most popular is black with shades of brown and grey is coming next. Due to the new coloring techniques in the fur industry, nowadays they come to a huge variety of colors that can satisfy any need and taste.

Swakara you will find them combined with other type of fur such as mink, fox, chinchilla or sable.
